Art internships that allow telecommunication?

i no longer live in nyc or los angeles and unfortunately many internships in fields that would be useful to me or interest me are always located in those cities. every internship also seems to require you to be at a physical location a few times a week. i was wondering if there were any positions in which telecommunication was acceptable or they provide transportation (for example, i know one that's 6 months long and flies you out to a few locations for a week at a time and the rest is telecommuting.) i'm looking for anything in the fields of television, cartoons, animation, art, comics, video games, graphic design, etc. i'm currently in school for liberal arts and have set myself up to transfer into animation and illustration. a variety of internships i had looked into (essentially the larger name ones) were at g4, marvel, nickelodeon, adult swim, disney and other large name studios. many of these studios had internet and social media related positions but even those required one to be in a studio. is there even such an offering as a telecommunication internship in such fields? i am willing to intern at a lesser known company within those fields as well, but had initially looked into the larger ones assuming they'd have more offerings.
