Serious electrical problem, lightning strikes?

Lightning strikes are in the gigawatt range and a direct hit at the pole feeding your home is un predictable. I have seen flame marks across a room on other wall from outlets before. It sounds like your power pole is the highest point around the residences so lightning is going to that point first. On your outside at meter base drive copper ground rods to the water table they make them so they connect to each other. If you can do 3 sets even better about 6 feet apart in a triangle. Tie them all together and connect to you meter ground. Try to run a downspout over it to keep wet. Water with hose during dry seasons.
